Prof Alexander Geissler

Chair for Health Care Management
University of St.Gallen

Alexander Geissler has been Full Professor of Healthcare Management at the School of Medicine of the University of St. Gallen since February 2020. In his primarily empirically driven research, he deals with questions of health economics, health services research and health systems research. The focus is on researching and developing instruments for measuring and controlling the efficiency of health care. This includes components of remuneration and incentive systems as well as questions of quality measurement, presentation and transparency. Increasingly, he is linking the two research strands to make better statements about the optimal use of scarce resources in the health care system. In this context, digital solution strategies of health IT are of particular importance. A special feature is his international orientation, both in terms of his publications and his research objects, which is evident in his engagements for supranational organisations such as the World Bank, the EU Commission and national ministries and think tanks.
