Non-Communicable Diseases: The Great Catch Up

The Covid-19 crisis created an unprecedented disruption for health systems worldwide and has taken priority over non-communicable diseases. However, the need for continuity of care for patients with chronic conditions did not stop during the outbreak. As routine follow-ups and care pathways for these conditions were put on hold, compounded by strict lockdown rules and many patients' reluctance to attend hospital, health systems are now confronted with the challenge of catching up with non-communicable diseases. This session will explore how health care leaders and clinicians have rapidly coordinated solutions to reach patients in need, combining remote monitoring, telehealth and other digital tools to reduce delayed diagnosis and treatments that sometimes lead to devastating outcomes and support recovery from the pandemic.
